What happens anytime there’s winter weather and all area schools are closed? You guessed it! Brownwood ISD goes to school!
Brownwood ISD students took to Twitter Sunday afternoon when the winter weather advisory was issued to proclaim their dismay of returning to school with a shortened Christmas break. The Twitter account belonging to Gaye P. Eenis, a senior at BHS read, “Ugh!! Back to School Monday! #winterweather.”
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the area, and district officials have opted to have classes tomorrow instead of the normally scheduled Christmas break. We ran in to Javier Morales, custodian for the BISD administration building as he was pouring salt on the sidewalks. Mr. Morales told the Examiner, “we are salting the sidewalks up here so our administration don’t slip and fall. The kids, we think it’s funny when they fall. We won’t salt the sidewalks at the schools.”
Morales went on to explain that BISD has a long standing tradition of being the only school in the county to attend classes when bad weather strikes. “We really take pride that our kids are able to survive such dangerous situations. It prepares them for later in life.”
